October in England…walk thru the beautiful English Gardens
December 12, 2011 by Nevia.

I like to share a breathtaking masterpiece of landscaping that my cousin Boris, in England, created in his back yard. He has endless imagination. I have seen before and after pictures. Because I do not have before pictures you will have to imagine a long and narrow yard approximately 30 ft wide by 100 feet long, overgrown with foot high grass.
Eight years ago when Boris wanted to purchase this plain row house, he asked his wife, who by the way did not like the house in its original stage to give him a year and if she still does not like the house in a year from the day they purchased it, they can look for another house. So she agreed and Boris got to work… and a year later she loved what she saw. The house started its transformation under Boris’s imagination and his skilled hands. I don’t think he knew he possessed this kind of talent, some of us live our whole life without discovering what our true talent is, I believe he found his. You be the judge…pictures are beautiful…. but being there walking the garden is another experience. …just unbelievable… and each time you take a walk you discover something tucked away and hidden you have not seen or noticed earlier… As he transformed the back yard he also changed the front of the house as I will show you with the following pictures. When you enter the house no details were spared inside, which is just as beautiful as outside. The back is an extension of the front of the house ….absolutely magnificent …a very rich looking English gardens…..on a much smaller scale…..he succeeded to create a true sanctuary.
I am so proud of Boris, a great landscape artist. I tried to think who in our family had such a talent and the only person I could think of would be our grandfather Zanmaria. He loved his plants and flowers and had impeccable small gardens all around his country home. He had a big influence on all his grandchildren’s lives as we were growing up in Croatia. He showed us the importance of hard work and love for our family even thought so many years later most of us are scattered all around the world.
So…. as an American cousin would say to the English cousin “Boris, you bloody impressed me!” Thank you so much for allowing me to share your beautiful creation with our Deer Defeat customers!!!!
Hope you enjoy the pictures and use some ideas for your own masterpiece creation. With Deer Defeat, It Can’t Be Beat, all natural deer, rabbit and groundhog repellent you too can create a beautiful landscape!!!
Good Luck and e-mail us those beautiful pictures to enter and win the 2012 Deer Defeat Contest !!!!!

Happy Summer-Plants Flourish With Deer Defeat Repellent
July 3, 2011 by Nevia.
I took a walk down our road this morning and just enjoyed the nature. There is nothing more beautiful than a nice crispy fresh sunny morning with the birds happily singing. I even surprised a deer that was grazing by the road and it was just standing there looking at me. I wonder if it recognized me from the past winter. I came within 10 feet of the deer that was standing perfectly calm before it ran away. There were squirrels and chipmunks zigzagging in front of my feet. My neighbor’s dog greeted me with his bark. By some people, all these creatures are considered pests, but what would an early morning walk be without the sounds of daybreak and these beautiful animals?
This is the time of the year when we all should be enjoying our beautiful flowers. I just got back from another business trip from down south and I was surprised to see the mums in bloom and tiger lilies taller than I. The homeowner has been using Deer Defeat repellent as does her neighbor who has masses of roses in full bloom all around the house.
Hope you too are using Deer Defeat and experience the same results. Once you learn how easy it is to use Deer Defeat repellent you will forget how difficult it used to be to grow anything in your garden. Deer Defeat will keep those pesky creatures away from your beautiful flowers. You never need to rotate the Deer Defeat repellent with another repellent. The longer you use it, the easier it will be for you to keep your yard in full bloom.
Please make sure you spray your hosta and your daylilies. The buds are just coming out and it would be a shame for rabbits, deer or woodchucks to have them for desert before you have a chance to see any flowers. With daylilies you only get one day to enjoy those beauties, therefore, protect those buds with Deer Defeat repellent as they grow. Keep an eye on your impatiens, phlox, roses, hydrangeas, sunflowers and all those beautiful juicy flowers that are just forming or are in full bloom. If you can’t remember when you last sprayed, it’s time.
Your Rhododendrons should have finished blooming. They can use some vitamins at this time and if you take the old growth off, by snapping off the stems of the spent blooms, it will encourage new blossoms the following year. If you wait too long it will make it harder to clean them up.
All flowering plants can benefit by pinching off the old flowers. This will encourage the repeat blooms during the summer.
I absolutely love seeing deer in the early morning every day by the watering hole. I also love to see rabbits playing and chasing each other and running around the lawn. I love seeing little chipmunks drinking from the cascading water fall at the fish pond, but I also love to enjoy my untouched flowers. I learned a few years ago that I can have it all with the simple use of Deer Defeat Repellent.
If you have tried other repellents without much success, you owe it to yourself to try Deer Defeat “It Can’t Be Beat” all natural deer and rabbit repellent. You will not be disappointed; Deer Defeat comes with 100 % Guarantee or your money back.
Check our home page and participate in the video or photograph contest and see how you can win a free gallon of Deer Defeat Concentrate. For further information check the website at: www.deerdefeat.com

Happy 4th of July!

Ok roll up your sleeves and let’s start digging:
April 21, 2011 by Nevia.
The snow is all gone and the ground is almost dry, of course now we have April showers but the grass is green and the birds are singing. For me there is no happier time of the year then welcoming the spring. The air is still chilly, but the rebirth of everything that has been dreary and dormant for such a long time is such a miracle. Just watching these daily transformations gives me tremendous pleasure. Oh, and I forgot the sky is blue again… One takes these little things in life for granted but after our long gray winter the sound of ducks returning, the chirping and singing of happy birds, sunny days and blue skies brings everything back to a wonderful life. Spring is here and we will have plenty to do. Here are just a few suggestions to stay ahead of the workload and have time to enjoy the beautiful weather which is coming.
Here is what Master Gardeners suggest doing in the Northeast , as soon as the snow is gone and the ground warms up.
Starting seeds:
Good luck planting peas for St. Pat’s Day. You’ll have better luck if you wait for the soil to get warmer and drier. It is time to start tomatoes, lettuce, petunias, marigolds and many other flowers and vegetables from seed. Start the seeds indoors, in the home, a greenhouse, or in a sun window or on a sun porch. By starting seeds indoors in March you will get a thirty to sixty day jump on the gardening season, because you will have young starter plants to set-out when the weather warms up later this spring. Some annuals, such as verbenas, snapdragons, and petunias, take 70 to 90 days to bloom. They should be started indoors in early spring or purchased as greenhouse grown transplants. Seeds can be started in pots, trays, egg cartons or any yogurt containers you have on hand.
Get the beds ready as soon as weather permits and the soil thaws. You can start planting some cool season plants as early blooms-primrose, pansy, English daisy, poppy, allyssum, snap-dragon. You should be able to find these in the garden centers near you. I know we are all anxious to start planting but even though the weather is warming up we have to be patient. We could still get a frost, therefore, for us in the Northeast, it’s better to wait until the middle of May. The tulips are out and I hope you did protect them with Deer Defeat Repellent. All the hosta are just coming out so make sure you spray them as they grow.
Just a tip to save your Rhododendrons from this winter’s constant ice storms:
I have noticed this year a lot of damage on Rhododendrons that were exposed to the open areas and ice storms. Unless they were protected by the house or growing on the south side, their leaves are turning brown. If you did protect them with Deer Defeat Repellent they were less damaged because the repellent coats the leaves and protects them from the cold weather. However all the Rhododendrons and Azaleas can use some pampering especially this spring! I suggest that during these rainy days you give them some aluminum sulfate and spray the leaves with miracle grow. Little care and tlc… can still bring them back to life. Please keep spraying, during growing season every 6 inches of new growth. For instruction go to Home page and click on Spring use of Deer Defeat Repellent. While there check out our new videos.
You will enjoy your beautiful flowers when you protect them with all natural Deer Defeat Repellent.
Happy Easter.

Happy April’s Fool day and it’s still snowing…..no joke!
April 2, 2011 by Nevia.
Honestly, I could not believe the weatherman last night when I heard that we will receive more snow. Come on now…I have been living in upstate New York for 34 years and I don’t ever remember such a long winter. Enough is enough…global warming my foot.
Because of the weather we been having, yes there is still time to prune and transplant…. weather permitting. I know if you live in warm areas you cannot imagine snow in April, so just for you I have few cute pictures with snow almost gone and its return. The birds are definitely confused…
Planting & Pruning
Right now is one of the most convenient times for planting new fruit trees, roses, berries and other deciduous plants. All kind of roses can be pruned this month. Check the web site for specific details on how to prune various roses.
Buy and plant shrubs and perennials as soon as they are available in the stores, the sooner the better. It gives more time to get their roots established before the heat which is much more of a killer than winter cold. Be careful not to disturb still dormant perennials, though, so if you are not sure where things are, wait.
And if, you like to rearrange plants, early spring is a great time to do that. The more time they have to get settled into their new location before it gets hot, the better.
For instant color in the house:
For beautiful early display force some spring blooming trees and shrubs like forsythia, pussy willow, quince and crab apples. You will enjoy the early blooms of these branches. It will remind you that warmer weather is almost here.
Sweet memory:
April 1st brings to mind one cute incident with my son during his school years. This was the only day he missed the school bus. He thought I was joking when I told him the bus was waiting for him. I could see the bus in the front of the house waiting and the more I urged him to hurry up…. the slower he moved. He proceeded with tying up his sneakers with calmness and snail speed… and mocking me with “sure Mom…sure…sure…ha…ha…” until the bus left. Oh well, the bus was there and left by the time he realized this was not an Aprils Fool day joke. He is a grown man now and we still remember that day with affection.
Enjoy the pictures:

Daylight Savings Time is here….Spring is almost here…..Is the snow ever going to melt?
March 13, 2011 by Nevia.
Here we are at Daylight Savings Time, the beginning of the garden year with longer days and warmer nights…we hope. It’s almost St. Patrick’s day, it’s almost Spring and it’s almost Easter and the snow is still on the ground…. scattered in big patches. I do not remember a longer winter then this one …..It just lingers…. and lingers…. Well there is a tiny light of hope, a few days ago I saw my first Robins. They are such a welcoming sight because when I see Robins I know that spring is not far behind.
We have not seen the deer around the house for a few weeks now and I miss my little Teddy Bear Prince. He was the one giving me plenty of trouble this whole winter. We had a mutual respect for each other, he wanted my evergreens and I kept him away with Deer Defeat Repellent an all natural deer and rabbit repellent. He did not like the idea of seeing green and not being able to eat it, so he came back to visit our yews and made an attempt every single evening. Even now I don’t think he is totally gone, I suspect he will be back as soon as my perennials start to emerge. I am ready and waiting armed with Deer Defeat Repellent which truly “Can’t be beat” when it comes to stubborn deer like him.
Just a reminder, please don’t forget as the snow melts and exposes the evergreens previously protected with the snow to spray those with Deer Defeat all natural deer and rabbit repellent as soon as you can. Deer are extremely hungry this year because of the long winter and they will eat anything that is green and available if it’s not sprayed.
Just last week I was visiting the beautiful state of Georgia and saw various blooming trees, gardenias and daffodils in full bloom. Pansies are the flowers that bloom in state of Georgia all year around, just gorgeous colorful pansies everywhere. It was so enjoyable breathing that fresh spring air and absorbing as much sun as I could to carry me over thru the last days of our upstate New York winter days.
While there, I was reading Atlanta Journal-Constitution newspaper and found the garden column written by Walter Reeves where he mentioned Deer Defeat Repellent to be used as one of the effective deer prevention repellents. Mr. Reeves is a popular radio and television personality in southern states. You can read all about him and his accomplishments and appearances on his web site www.walterreeves.com. Mr. Walter Reeves teaches gardening classes, has successful radio and television show and writes gardening books specifically for the South. By visiting his web site you can learn a lot more about ways to successful gardening. He also writes a weekly column of garden tips and questions and answers for Atlanta Journal-Constitution, newspaper very popular in Atlanta and its surroundings. Below is a question by his reader about deer problem and answer by Mr. Reeves mentioning Deer Defeat Repellent. You can find the rest of the article in his gardening column on March 1, 2011 in http://www.ajchomefinder.com/gardening/magnolia-is-slow-to-857649.html.
Q. I am afraid I’ve created a monster by having a salt lick in my backyard. The deer love it. I recently counted eight there taking turns. I had hoped to put out impatiens to get some color. Do deer like impatiens? — Rose Sanders, Marietta
A. If I installed a swimming pool in my front yard without a fence, I’d be accused of creating an attractive nuisance. By putting a salt lick in your backyard, you did the same thing for deer. They will be a nuisance to you and your neighbors as long as the salt is there. Taking into account that deer are fickle, impatiens are a plant usually consumed by them. You can try repellents like Liquid Fence, Deer Defeat, PlantSkyyd or Milorganite to see if you can keep them at bay.
We are pleased Deer Defeat all natural deer and rabbit repellent received the recognition it deserves from such a popular garden personality as Mr. Walter Reeves. It is an honor for Deer Defeat Repellent to be listed by Mr. Reeves in his newspaper column as one of the effective deer and rabbit repellents. Deer Defeat is currently selling in beautiful Senoia GA.

Is February over Yet?
February 14, 2011 by Nevia.
February is always a problematical month for all of us and especially for the deer. This year the North East has been hammered with extreme cold, constant snow and below freezing temperatures. Certain spots still have over 3 feet of snow and its creating difficulty for the deer in their search for food. For deer, walking in deep snow poses trouble not only in search for food but mere walking puts hardship on their legs and the entire body. Through our observation every winter we noticed that changes in temperature also alters the deer habits. As the snow keeps accumulating you will notice the deer drawing together closer to the woods. In the beginning of the winter you will see deer mostly in the evenings in search for food and early mornings as they leave their favorite sleeping spots. While napping deer like the protection of the big trees with very low branches and good visibility. Deer follow the same trail every morning and head toward the security of the woods. This winter was no exception; we had between 20 and 40 deer on any given day taking refuge in our back woods. Because we have drinking water on the property it makes it ideal place for deer to feel safe, a true winter sanctuary. We sprayed everything we wished to protect from deer destruction with Deer Defeat all natural deer and rabbit repellent. We did not spray the big spruces lining the property and some younger ones as deer were never interested in those trees. Last week we noticed that they started eating Norwegian spruces as well as blue spruces. When we see deer starting to eat bare sticks of wild berry bushes and the needles of pine trees we know that they are entering into a danger zone. At this point deer will search for food longer and sleep less. Because they spend many hours in search of food which is scarce they tend to stay closer where they can find the water, some food and feel safe while resting. For that reason deer always favored our woods by our back yard.
However, this year we have discovered something we had never experienced previously in all the years of testing Deer Defeat Deer and Rabbit Repellent. Almost every day, any time during the day when one looks at the woods behind our house you get the feeling that the trees are moving because of the countless deer legs slowly walking throughout the woods. Our closest sprayed yews are about 30 feet from the edge of the woods. Out of over 40 deer, they are all ignoring the sprayed yews except one young deer which we named “Teddy Bear”. It got the name because it looks like a little cuddly Teddy, but rest assure, this cute deer can do a lot of damage. This one which I believe is a male because of the way it stands out from the rest of the deer in appearance, bravery and of the first sign of the tiny horns. He is so determined and incredible stubborn. We have never had such an experience as with this young buck yet. He will just not give up; he feels like he needs to visit the yews every single day. He does not bother any other sprayed evergreens just the yews. He walks straight to the yews, smells, sometimes he stops a few feet away and leaves, sometimes he gets realy close and sometimes he takes a nibble, pullson the branches, drops it and then walks away. The fact that he does this every single day leaves us baffled. If somebody would have told us that they have a deer that is this persistent we would had never believed it but we have witnessed it ourselves. We took many pictures of our cute Teddy deer. He has given us quite a challenge and he will be the one to watch for this spring.
We have mention this on many previous occasions, by observing the deer we have noticed that younger deer noses are not as sensitive as the older ones. They do get closer to the sprayed evergreens and this winter was no exception, especially with deep snow and shortage of food. Our Teddy deer is butting head with us and frankly I am not sure which one of us will win. The winter is not over yet. We will let you know of the outcome in the spring or if he sticks around the end of the summer….I suspect he is going to be a chalenge.
In the meantime please enjoy our many pictures of deer we took for you. Also you might like to view the live video of our little Teddy deer and the effectiveness of Deer Defeat Repellent. To view the video please visit our Home page. We alternate the clips but we will keep our little Prince until the end of March. See the picture of wild turkeys taken today….it must be the sign of Spring…
Happy Valentine’s Day
Thank you for reading.

Late January- Just a reminder, need to spray if you have not done so yet
January 24, 2011 by Nevia.
Deer friends,
We are getting our share of snow, ice and frigid temperatures this winter. I am sure you see deer around your house looking for anything that tastes better than what they find in the woods.
If you have not done so and you see an increase of deer tracks around your evergreens please give them another good coat of Deer Defeat Repellent, this is the perfect time to spray your evergreens just before another big storm. It’s better to overspray in the winter than under spray. Deer will be tempted at this time to try your bushes and if they don’t like the smell they will keep away. But keep in mind that Deer are desperate; with over a foot of snow and ice on the ground they will not stop trying. If you see deer come close to your evergreens and they nibble a tiny bit, they will not like the taste and will leave and not come back to try again for a while. If you notice the evidence of deer nibble, do not postpone too long to give it another coat of Deer Defeat all natural deer and rabbit Repellent. Keep an eye out for the young deer, as their sense of smell is not yet fully developed. They might find the spot that was not sprayed and seriously damage your evergreens from inside out. In the winter always make sure you spray the whole evergreens, from all the sides and adjust your nozzle to full spray as the cold temperatures will tend to freeze the spray tip. Don’t forget to shake the sprayer often to keep the oils mixed as they separate in the cold temperatures.
For best performance always keep your sprayer stored in above freezing temperatures.
Late January in Upstate New York: snow, ice, cold and more snow…….winter wonderland!

Happy January
January 16, 2011 by Nevia.
January always begins with a big celebration, New Year, new resolutions, but soon we return to the reality of short days, cold temperatures, and the fact that our garden is still asleep. However, this is not such a bad thing. It is a time to take a rest!
Things to do:
Plan your vegetable and annual gardens for upcoming spring.
During the calm of winter, give thought to improvements that can be made in the hectic spring season to come.
Take care of your tools! Sharpen the lawnmower blades, repair the handles of shovels and any other tool placed on the “to be fixed” pile. I don’t know about you but I always have honey do list and what better time than during the slow winter months.
Check any potted plants that you have in a warm garage or basement for watering needs. I brought my in the house and they are thriving by the large sunny bay window. See the picture.
Set up bird feeders and don’t forget to fill them up. Kids and pets get entertained by watching the birds eat.
End of January, if weather permitting, spray second application of Deer Defeat Repellent on all your evergreens, bushes and trees you like to protect. If you do not get a chance in January don’t stress, there will be a nice sunny day in February. I am sure if you have used your Deer Defeat Repellent as instructed this winter you are amazed how easy it is to protect your plants from total Deer destruction.
And lastly, now that you can relax even if you see a heard of deer in your yard, pour yourself a cop of good tea or a glass of wine and take pleasure in the view outside. Enjoy the snow and rest assured that all your evergreens are protected by Deer Defeat Repellent which just can’t be beat when it comes to winter deer browsing.
