Orchard Update
July 30, 2010 by Nevia.
Fruit and Vegetable orchard update:
We are still continuing the tests on the Orchard. Here is the update:
Young cherry trees that are protected with Deer Defeat Repellent have grown tremendously and are nice and bushy.
The farmer planted pumpkins from the seeds but there are no signs of any plants emerging. Not sure if the seeds were bad or the lack of rain. Will keep you posted.
The farmer planted tomatoes and called us to come and spray but when we got there 3/4 of the tomatoes were already destroyed by deer. His response was “Well there goes the myth that deer don’t like the tomato plants”. The farmer told us they will grow again, even the ones the deer ate to the ground. We did protect them with Deer Defeat Repellent and are watching the progress very carefully. Deer are very smart, they tend to come back to the same spot they have found the food previously. Will keep you posted

Vegetable Farm update:
The farmer has sprayed a perimeter of his 3 acres vegetable farm a week apart and there was no deer damage during that week. He just sprayed second time on July 6 after two weeks and there was no deer damage. Now we will wait for a month and see if Deer Defeat will keep the deer and rabbit away for an entire month. This is a 3 Acre farm in the middle of the woods with plenty of deer circling around every day and night. Three Acres of planted field is a big area to protect, with just spraying the perimeter. This farmer grows all the vegetables that Deer love: corn, carrots, beets tops, lettuce and potatoes. Every day is another day of victory but we still have a long way to go before we know the final results. As always will
keep you posted.
